Description:
The Futuros Sin Barreras Program is designed for the purpose of providing drug prevention services to youth between the ages of 10 – 17 who have experienced traumatic life events such as child abuse: domestic, school or community violence; the loss of a loved one; imprisonment of a family member; a family breakup; etc. The foundation of Futuros Sin Barreras is the implementation of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is a SAMHSA Model Program to prevent substance abuse. TF-CBT also has a parent training component that emphasizes effective parenting skills including how to enhance parent-child interactions to promote positive support for children.
