Description:
The CORAZON Program provides street outreach services to homeless and runaway youth. The program targets the prevention of youth sexual abuse and behaviors such as survival sex, prostitution, and substance and other behaviors that youth often engage in to survive in the streets. The goal of the CORAZON Program is to protect and provide services to young people (ages 10 through 17) who are runaways or homeless and are in Webb County. Additionally, services are offered to U.S. Youth (ages 10 – 17) who find themselves involved in legal difficulties in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. SCAN’s CORAZON Program embraces the youth development approach, which suggests that the best way to prevent young people’s involvement in risky behavior is to help them achieve their full potential.
